MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To
plan, design, develop and install agricultural, horticultural and forestry
machinery and equipment, as well as supervising agricultural construction
projects such as land drainage, reclamation, clearance and irrigation.
To carry out technical feasibilities of such projects for development or
adaptation and co-ordinate project development activities during design,
development and testing.

FUNCTIONS:
To design,
under the guidance of the Senior Engineer-Design and Chief
Engineer-Projects, new products such as tractors, ploughs, combine
harvesters, sprayers, and forestry, horticultural and ground care equipment.
To ensure, in collaboration with the R&D Workshop, that prototypes of the
designs cited above are manufactured to the required design specification
and within the planned time frames and budget.
To develop solutions and new equipment to deal with problems relating to
soil erosion, irrigation and drainage, and to protect and manage crops.
To train operators and farmers in the installation and maintenance of land
based engineering technologies
To supervise Design Office subordinate staff, prescribe their duties,
materials and work methods to be employed in collaboration with the Senior
Engineer Design.
To conduct on the job training for the Design Office staff and when
required.
To prepare, in liaison with the Senior Engineer-Design, annual budget for
the Projects Design Office.
To give advisory and practical support to new lines of research and
development work
To perform any tasks as may be assigned.
5.
QUALIFICATIONS
Degree in Agricultural Engineering or related fields with at least 3 years
working experience in a design background.
Experienced designer with a proven track record in design for manufacture.
Knowledge of Computer Aided Design (CAD) is essential
