PROJECT EXPERIENCE
Export Development Programme, Botswana
Export Development and Investment Authority (2006)
She was part of the consulting team that was in
charge of the Export Development Programme. The team comprised of members from
Botswana, South Africa and Mauritius. Her task was to assist the project manager
in the coordination and in the execution of the programme.
Market Segmentation Study, Botswana
Housing Corporation (2006)
As a project coordinator she was responsible
for the consulting team in Botswana and Mauritius, and reported to the Client.
The aim of the project was to define, measure and segment the residential market
base for BHC houses on a countrywide basis.
Global 100, Gallup Organisation / Synovate
(2006)
She was the project manager accountable for
the Botswana Global 100 opinion poll, and worked closely with Synovate South
Africa and the Gallup Organisation. Gallup organisation was responsible for
conducting the Global 100 in 100 countries around the world. The Gallup
Organisation is one of the world's largest providers of public opinion polling
and management consulting.
Customer Satisfaction Survey, First
National Bank (2006)
Her role was project coordination; where she
was responsible for the consulting team in Botswana and Mauritius, and reported
to the Client. The aim of the project was to determine customers’ needs,
expectations and behaviors.
Special Exercise to Investigate the BTC/BOTSNET
Relationship, Botswana Telecommunication Authority (2006)
She was the project manager of a team that
comprised of members from Botswana, South Africa and BTA staff members who also
formed part of the consulting team. She worked closely with BTA, BTC and BOTSNET.
Customer Satisfaction Survey, Standard
Chartered Bank (2006)
With her role as a project coordinator, she
had the responsibility of reporting to the Client, and liaison with the team
members from Botswana, Mauritius and India to ensure that the project was on
track. The aim of the project was to determine behavioural and attitudinal
disposition of clients towards the bank.
Mystery Shopping and Retail Audits,
Shoprite / Synovate (2006)
She was the project manager and worked with a
team from Botswana and South Africa. The project involved the mystery shoppers
visiting various stores as customers and buying various Microsoft products in
order to assess the dealers.
Customer Satisfaction Survey, Barclays
Bank / Synovate (2005-2006)
As a project manager, she was accountable for
the team members in Botswana and South Africa and also to ensure that the
project is executed as per the Clients requirements. The aim of the project was
to determine perception of the bank’s services in terms of current client
satisfaction and comparative level of client satisfaction with other selected
banks.
Communication Strategy, Botswana National
Productivity Centre (2005)
She was the project coordinator responsible
for the consulting team in Botswana and South Africa, and reported to the
Client, the objective was to establish the appropriate communication channels
for the BNPC.
Housing Fund Feasibility Study, Department
of Housing – Ministry of Lands and Housing (2005)
She assisted in conducting a feasibility
study to determine the operational framework and sustainability of the Botswana
Public Officers Housing Fund.
Customer Satisfaction Survey, Office of
the President (2005)
She assisted in a customer satisfaction
survey for the office of the president, with a team from Botswana and Mauritius;
this involved measuring the satisfaction rates of the entire government
ministries in Botswana.
Feasibility Study, Botswana Savings Bank
(2005)
She was the team leader in conducting a
market feasibility study to evaluate the market potential in Francistown (second
largest town in Botswana), for a Botswana Savings Bank branch.
Customer Opinion Survey, Botswana
Telecommunication Corporation (2005)
She was the project manager in charge of the
project which was in form of focus group discussions in Gaborone and
Francistown, Botswana for BTC, purpose of which was to determine customer’s
opinion on new products and services that BTC wanted to introduce in the market.
Market Share Survey, Kgalagadi Soap
Industries (2005)
She was the project manager responsible for
conducting the survey. The survey was intended to determine the market share of
the various soaps that KSI sells in the Botswana Market as compared to its
competitors.
Mystery Shopping, Microsoft Botswana
(2005)
She was responsible for the Mystery shopping
conducted to Microsoft dealers in Botswana. This involved the mystery shoppers
visiting various dealer stores as customers and buying various Microsoft
products in order to assess the dealers.
Customer Satisfaction Survey, Botswana
Telecommunication Corporation (2004)
She was the project manager responsible for a
customer satisfaction measurement project for Botswana Telecommunication
Corporations (BTC), the target population was the Diamond Ring Customers - BTC’s
top customers which include embassies, government ministries and large
corporate.
Footfall Survey, Game City Botswana (2004)
She was in charge of the footfall survey in
one of the biggest mall in Gaborone Botswana- Game City. The footfall was
conducted continuously over a period of 1 month from the time the mall opens to
the time it closes.
Employee Satisfaction Survey, Naledi
Motors (2004)
She was the project manager responsible for
the employee satisfaction survey of Naledi Motors which was as a result of the
customer satisfaction index that was being conducted on a monthly basis.
National Market Survey, Botswana Savings
Bank (2004)
As a project manager she was in charge of the
national market survey for Botswana Savings Bank (BSB), the survey was conducted
in various areas in Botswana was aimed at establishing the needs and
expectations of BSB’s target audience.
Customer Satisfaction Index, Naledi Motors
(2003-2004)
She was the team leader responsible for the
continuous measurement of customer satisfaction index of Naledi Motors which is
the only dealer licensed to sell Mercedes Benz, Chrysler and Mitsubishi car
brand.
Brand Repositioning Survey, Kgalagadi Soap
Industries (2003)
She was responsible for conducting a brand
repositioning survey of Kgalagadi Soap Industries (KSI) which manufactures and
sells various cooking oil and soap in Botswana and other parts of Africa. The
target product in this case was the Marang 2-in-1 soap. The results led to the
total change of the soap in terms of packaging, appearance and smell.
Mystery Shopping - Price Comparison,
Metsef / Trade Centre (2003)
She assisted in conducting mystery shopping
to compare prices of Metsef; one of the largest wholesalers in Botswana, to that
of its competitors, the mystery shopping was done on a monthly basis.
Customer Satisfaction Survey, Ministry of
Mineral Energy and Water Resources (2003)
She was the assistant project manager for the
customer satisfaction survey for the Ministry of Mineral Energy and Water
Resources (MMEWR) in Botswana; this involved measuring the satisfaction rates of
the various customers in the 10 departments under the ministry in various areas
of Botswana.
Pantry Checks, Colgate- Palmolive (2003)
This was done to establish what people in
Botswana had in their pantries in terms of soap, tooth paste and fabric
softeners. This was to establish market shares of Colgate Palmolive products in
Botswana.
Customer Opinion Survey, BP Botswana
(2002)
She has led a customer opinion project for BP
covering the identification of customer interfaces, identification of customer
needs and expectation through face to face interviews, design of survey
instruments and quantitative survey of customers.
Evaluating Technical Efficiency of
Hospitals in Botswana (2002)
As a fulfillment of Masters of Arts in
Economics degree at University of Botswana, she evaluated the technical
efficiency of 15 primary hospitals in Botswana, and identified areas of
inefficiencies that can move the hospital from the in-efficiency to efficiency
operations.
Privatisation in Botswana: An assessment
of its impact (2000)
As a fulfillment of Bachelor of Arts in
Economics degree at University of Botswana, she assessed the impact of privation
to the Botswana economy.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE
Byela has developed extensive professional
experience in Botswana through her participation in a number of projects both at
management level and as an assistant. She has been responsible for successfully
managing the departments she has worked in and providing solutions to Clients.
Project Management
Byela has been responsible for the successful
planning and execution of various projects in Botswana. She has lead and managed
project teams, with the needed authority and responsibility to run the project
on a day-to-day basis. She has good management skills, can solve personal
conflicts, and has been able to detect and handle project risks.
As a project manager she has been responsible
for designing the project management framework, project planning, stage and
exception plans, and giving updates on project status to the relevant
stakeholders.
Project Coordination
Byela also has experience in project
coordination, through the various partnerships that exist in South Africa and
Mauritius. In this role she is usually the contact person with the Client, and
liaisons with the international partners to ensure that the projects are
delivered according to the Clients’ specification, and that all team members are
working closely in the execution of the project.
As a project coordinator she coordinates all
communications between the Client and the project team; she provides status
information and creates, maintain, and distribute project tracking documents as
the project progresses.
Data Management
Through her extensive research projects for
government and private companies; Byela has gain extensive experience in
extracting useful information from data sets using computational techniques from
statistics, machine learning and pattern recognition to build models for
decision making managers.

Satisfaction Measurements, Climate Surveys, Footfall Surveys, Mystery Shopping,
